Exhibitions

The most visible aspect of the activities of the Cooperative are its exhibitions. To date, the artisans, designers and artists of Fiskars have assembled over 50 local exhibitions on varying themes. Fiskars has become an established showroom of high-class Finnish arts and crafts; the exhibitions are among the most prominent yearly events in the field and receive ample publicity. The exhibitions have witnessed a steady growth in attendance, and are now visited by approximately 25,000 guests each year.

The main exhibition each year is the joint exhibition, which follows in the tradition of the Cooperative’s original exhibition in 1994. Here, products and pieces of art made by members are on display.

In addition to its own exhibition, the Cooperative has arranged a coinciding exhibition each summer since 1996, centering on a specific material theme such as wood, paper or clay. These exhibitions have been invitational, mixing local talent with top names from elsewhere in Finland and around the world.

Members of the Cooperative have furthermore had their products and works of art displayed in other forums around Finland and abroad, including such renowned venues as the Barbican Centre in London, the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, and the Musée d'Art Moderne et Contemporain in Nice. In the last years, the exhibition Fiskars Design Village, presenting the development of the Cooperative and the Village, has toured both Japan and Mexico.
