It is Beautiful Here

Textile exhibition • 10 May - 27 September 2009 • The Granary, Fiskars Village • Open daily 11am-6pm

The history and past of a material are at all times inevitably present in it. In textiles the meanings of this past are often so human, close and accessible that one is drawn to consider the essence of artefacts and images almost unnoticeably, even naturally.

Textile nowadays is unparalleled in its variety, representing an unending stream of interpretations, techniques, methods, genders and points of view.

It is Beautiful Here is an exhibition presenting the diversity and variety of textile materials in relation to culture, man, time and space. It features works of 43 artists, designers and artisans from all over the Globe. The exhibition aims at providing an experience of the material – a kaleidoscope of how a single material can open up to be many things. It is Beautiful Here is the first textile exhibition to be held in Fiskars village.
